Continuing in Aquatica’s reputation for offering premium quality and at affordable prices, the Aquatica A1 housing has the finest ergonomics and control accessibility combined with the famed ruggedness of our all aluminium construction and distinctive hard coating.
As to be expected with all Aquatica housings, it is CNC machined from 6061 T6 Aluminium with a MIL-A-8625 anodized coating and an additional extra tough powder coat paint baked on as the final layer of defence against the elements. All control shafts and push buttons are made from T304 stainless steel. This, as for all Aquatica housings, will take a licking and keep going!
Important Note: Camera Not Included
Surveyor Monitoring System included.
What was previously an optional accessory, Aquatica is now including the field-proven Surveyor Vacuum System (Pump, valve, and sensor) as standard. This sensor acts as a moisture alarm and vacuum monitoring system which can be used for constantly monitoring the sealing integrity of the housing, adding another level of safety and peace of mind.
The housing is optimized so that all its controls can easily be reached and operate smoothly. Knurled knobs and oversized controls translate into positive and easy operation no matter what the situation is. Handling the housing is via Aquatica’s acclaimed moulded grips, these have been the industry reference in comfort for the last 25 years. These lightweight yet sturdy grip handles are made of one piece and cannot come unglued, fall apart, or corrode. Grips are provided with standard-sized mounting holes ready to accept the most current strobes and their supporting arms. On top of the housing is an extra mounting point for attaching a focus/video light or other accessories, three additional standard sized mounting points are provided underneath the housing for various brackets, support, or tripods.
The Aquatica A1 housing is supplied with Aquatica’s Galileo-type eyepiece. This high-quality coated optical finder provides a bright and complete view through the viewfinder. For those seeking the ultimate in viewing pleasure, the optional Aqua View Finder, available in straight and 45 degrees version, are among the best in the industry. These viewfinders can easily be installed in a matter of a few minutes by the user. The enlarged and enhanced images provided by the Aqua View Finder (#20054 & #20059) are second to none in clarity and provide the photographer with tack sharp corner-to-corner viewing of the camera viewfinder for composing and critical focusing.
Aquatica has a large selection of ports available from the state-of-the-art 9.25” Megadome made of BK-7 coated mineral glass, to Aquatica’s classic workhorses, the 8” and 6” dome ports with removable shades going down to the diminutive 4” Minidome, also made of coated BK7 glass. Flat ports are also available for macro photography. A selection of port extension rings are available to accommodate the most popular lenses.
The Aquatica A1 housing offers a choice of bulkhead connectors to take advantage of the current technology advancement made in underwater strobes. They are user-serviceable and replacing them is done quickly without requiring the need for any special tools. These improvements were implemented with the travelling photographer in mind, reliability and user’s friendly field maintenance being the keyword here.
